Charges likely will be filed in connection with a three-vehicle wreck on Hwy. 53 that sent three people to area hospitals Aug. 18.

According to sheriff’s reports, the wreck occurred about 2 p.m. as Susan Blackwell, 30, of Dahlonega was traveling east on Hwy. 53 near Dawson Forest Road.

The Ford Taurus she was driving rear-ended a Toyota Sienna driven by Miguel Galvez, who was waiting to turn right into his driveway.

The reports said the Sienna was pushed across the centerline, where it struck an oncoming 2001 Ford Escape, driven by Briana K. Cote.

Cote, 21, of Dawsonville was taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth for evaluation after telling emergency personnel she was pregnant, according to reports.

“That was precautionary,” said Dawson County Emergency Services Capt. Jason Dooley. “She had just found out she was 15 weeks pregnant and wanted to be checked out.”

Galvez, 35, of Dawsonville, and Blackwell were each flown by helicopter to area hospitals. Their conditions could not be determined Tuesday.

After the wreck, authorities found Galvez inside his residence after initial reports that he may have left the scene.

“We think he went inside his home to be with his family and get treatment for his injuries,” said Dawson County Sheriff’s Lt. Tony Wooten.

According to sheriff’s reports, Galvez has a failure to appear warrant out of Gainesville.
