Cecil Marion Vaughan, Sr.

Cecil Marion Vaughan, Sr., 83, of Cumming, died at his home Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008.

 

 

The son of the late Hollis and Vandie Vaughan, he was a native of Forsyth County.

 

 

His stepson, Vance Bennett, and sisters, Ruth Phyfe and Mary Bell Pirkle preceded him in death.

 

 

Mr. Vaughan served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following retirement as a carpenter, he was the custodian at Mashburn Elementary School for 10 years. He was also an avid Braves fan.

 

 

Survivors include his sons, Marion (Kathy) Vaughan of Cumming, Timmy Vaughan of Jasper; stepchildren, Renay (Brian) Zimmel of Burford, Keith (Michelle) Bennett of Cumming, Wayne Green and Carol Coker of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister, Jewel Stirckland of Dawsonville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; various other relatives also survive.

 

 

Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The Revs. Jerry McCormick, Bud Sutton and Ronny Bennett officiated. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

 

 

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
