He is not a player of many words, but gives it 110 percent at all times while on the football field. This Tiger has played through injury, pain and many position changes, but he is always upbeat.

Ethan Brown is a quiet leader for Head Coach Jeff Lee’s Tiger team. Brown is entering his final year at Dawson County High School and hopes to go out with a bang.

Last season, Dawson posted a 1-9 record.

“I want to break 500 this season,” said Brown.

Brown will be a key component if Dawson County is to have any success on the gridiron this season.

“Ethan has been playing really well. He does everything we ask him to do and you couldn’t find a better person,” Lee said.

During passing camp over the summer at Presbyterian College, Brown caught the eye of the Blue Hose coaching staff. Word has spread and several small colleges have taken notice of Brown.

“He had a great summer. At passing camps he broke really well on the ball from his safety position. Ethan picked several passes and some colleges have become interested in him,” Lee said.

Brown is an “A” student in the classroom.

“My mom and dad expect good grades,” Brown said.

The honor student does a great job of balancing academics and athletics.

“I really hope I get the chance to play in college,” he added.

The senior has played many positions during his career at Dawson County High School.

This season will be no different.

On offense Brown could line-up at receiver, running back, and if needed, can play quarterback.

“If they really needed me I could go back and play quarterback. But only if Tyler gets injured,” said Brown, who was the starting quarterback for most of last season

Defensively, Brown will play safety for defensive coordinator Van Samples. His reputation as a hard hitter scares receivers when they cross over the middle.

Brown and his teammates will travel to Greater Atlanta Christian on Aug. 16 for a scrimmage against the Spartans. Kickoff for the scrimmage is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The regular season begins at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27, when the Tigers will travel to Jasper to take on Pickens County High School.
