The Tiger football team competed in a passing camp at Pickens County High School in Jasper last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Head Coach Jeff Lee and his team of receivers, quarterbacks, centers and running backs were impressive, coming away with a 10-1-1 record against Union County, Pickens County, Fannin County, Towns County and River Ridge.

“I thought we played really well,” Lee said. “Tyler Dominy, quarterback, continues to throw the ball well and our receivers are catching the ball and running good routes.”

Combined this summer the team has a record of 25-5-4 after going 10-4-3 at Presbyterian College a couple of weeks ago.

“The games are really competitive. We are working on a specific phase of our game,” Lee said.

Dawson was 4-1-1 on Tuesday, the first day of camp with their only loss coming at the hands of rival Union County.

The Tigers avenged that loss on Wednesday as they downed the Panthers in a heated game.

Lee was pleased with his team’s defensive play.

“Installing the two-deep secondary has really been a help,” he said.

Senior Ethan Brown continues to impress his coaches with his play from the safety position. There have been several colleges that have shown an interest in Brown according to Lee.

“Ethan has played well all summer and is a true leader,” Lee said.

The team resumed weightlifting, agilities and running this week with the season just around the corner.

“We look better right now compared to this time last year,” Lee added.

Picture day will begin at 10 a.m. July 31, at Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers will return later that evening for a weightlifting session beginning at 9 p.m.

At midnight the Tigers will hit the field for their first official practice of the new year.

Lee and his team will continue their preparation with three-a-day practices on Monday and Tuesday before breaking camp with two practices on Wednesday.
