The 2010 edition of Dawson County Middle School football opened practice for quarterbacks, receivers and running backs last week at the school.

Head Coach Thomy Edwards and his staff will soon bring in linemen and form a full squad for practice. The Tigers will practice Monday through Thursday from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Assisting Edwards this season will be veteran coach Frank Brown, Steven Moates and Andrew Grigsby.

“Things have really been good for the first week,” said Edwards. “Brody Chester, at quarterback, and Logan Crumley, wingback, have had a really good week of practice.”

The Tigers are coming off a 3-4 campaign last season. The record is deceptive with Dawson losing three games by a total of only 9 points combined.

“I felt like we were in every ballgame with the exception of one last season. We want to seal the deal this season,” Edwards said.

“We really have a good group coming back from last season. I feel like we have some talent in the backfield and on the line of scrimmage. I am really looking forward to this season,” he added.

The Tigers will continue practice in eager anticipation of their first game with cross-county rival Riverview Middle School on Aug. 28 at Tiger Stadium at Dawson County High School.
