ASK THE EXPERTS

Tigers look to rebound against Rabun

POSTED: October 5, 2008 5:03 a.m.

Rabun County will be under the direction of first year coach Danny Durham this season, after coming off a terrible 1-9 record last season. The Wildcats haven’t posted a winning season since 2000.

Durham will have his hands full this year trying to implement his system.

Currently, the Wildcats are 0-4 on the season, and 0-3 in Region 8-AA.

The Wildcats were blasted by Banks County last Friday night 35-6.

They have also lost to Towns County, 20-0, Union County, 27-14 and Riverside Military Academy, 48-2.

The Wildcats returned five starters on offense, led by senior quarterback Ethan Grant (6-0, 180). His brother Morgan Grant (6-0, 210) will shore up the offensive and defensive lines.

Also playing on both sides of the line are Matthew Henry (6-1, 255) and Eden Griggs (5-11, 195).

The defense is of major concern to Durham. Last year, it surrendered over 27 points per game. It can’t continue to do that if the Wildcats are to be successful in Region 8-AA.

Prediction: Last year Dawson barely escaped with a 21-7 win over the Wildcats in a penalty-laden game. If the Tigers take Rabun lightly it could be a long night for Lee and his team.

Offensive coordinator Doug Miolen will have his team ready and should amass tons of yards against the Wildcats.

Dawson will get back on track this week.

The Tigers will retain their confidence in front of a home crowd. This game could get ugly with Lee’s team taking out their frustration of the last couple of weeks.

This catfight, Wildcats vs. Tigers, will be all one-sided as Dawson will come away with a lopsided victory.
