Dawson County Rotary Club installed a new slate of officers last month and handed the presidential gavel to longtime club treasurer Kathy Fuller.

A local certified public accountant who lives in Dahlonega, Fuller has been a member of the Rotary Club for the last 13 years, most of which she served as treasurer.

Fuller said maintaining the momentum past presidents demonstrated would ensure a successful club over the next year.

“It makes me sad we have to do this year without Mark (Weaver),” Fuller said. “But it all makes me want to do a great job in his honor.”

Fuller was in-line to serve as the club’s president-elect in 2010/2011 with Weaver as president.

However, Weaver, who dedicated his life to living the Rotarian creed of service above self, died May 13.

Outgoing president Will Wade described Weaver as “the true picture of ‘service above self’ in all the areas of his life.”

“I could say more, but his life said it all,” Wade said.

Officers also installed last month were President-elect Larry Anderson,  Vice president/treasurer Carol Tyger and Secretary Clint Bearden.

Fuller said she wants to see the club continue to grow its service efforts, such as literacy and water quality, throughout the community and abroad.

“I hope Rotary is going to be a part of making this world a better place,” she said. “I’m going to do what I can to support this fabulous organization.”

Dawson County Rotary, which formed in 1992, currently has about 56 members.

The club supports numerous initiatives and holds an annual golf tournament to raise funds that are dispersed through local and international service projects.

Dawson County Rotary meets at 7:30 a.m. on Thursdays at the Lakeview Center on Dawson Forest Road.
