The Dawson County boys basketball team continues to play well this summer.

The Tigers have played in several team camps and scrimmages over the past two weeks.

Head Coach Thad Burgess’ team played at Dobbs Creek Park in Cumming last Wednesday and Thursday and defeated Lumpkin County, South Forsyth, and a very strong team in Northview.

Dawson then traveled to Birmingham-Southern for games last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Tigers won back-to-back overtime games against teams from Alabama and Louisiana. The team also won a huge game that evening over 6-A Oak Mountain out of Birmingham, Ala.

“I could not be more proud of how we have improved and are coming together,” Burgess said.

“The summer begins your chemistry and allows for our players to get away together and learn to battle and get adjusted to my coaching style and different game situations both on and off the floor,” he added.

The Tigers continue to get great play from senior Jacob Evans. Evans has been a scoring and rebounding machine for Burgess.

Tiger Stephen Johnson also is playing very well. Tyler Dominy is getting better handling the point guard position and is scoring and rebounding at a high level, according to Burgess.

Senior Levi Wilson is providing steady play and leadership from his guard position.

Will Anglin, Roman Stroud, Gunnar Armstrong, Logan Lewis and Grant Shope also have been playing good for the Tigers this summer.

The team will finish up the summer program with a trip to Auburn University for another team camp this weekend.
