Annie Dean Samples

Annie Dean Samples, 70, of Dawsonville, died May 10, 2010.

  

Born Aug. 27, 1939 to the late Dean and Annie Mae Tatum, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

  

Annie Dean was a 1957 graduate of Dawson County High School, where she was a member of the Beta Club and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Home Economics from the University of Georgia.

  

She taught economics in the Fulton County School System, the Gwinnett County School System and taught for 12 years in Dawson County.

  

A jewelry designer, along with her husband they owned and operated The Rock House, where they won many design awards. They worked many shows in the eastern United States.

  

Mrs. Samples was president of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and was active in community affairs.

  

She was a member of McKees Chapel United Methodist Church.

  

Her sister, Lois Mathis, also preceded her in death.

  

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Charles Samples of Dawsonville; niece, Melanie Alfredsson of Flowery Branch; nephew, Rainer Mathis of Flowery Branch; brother-in-law, Carson Mathis of Dawsonville; mother-in-law, Lillie Mae Samples of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Randy Richards and Sven Mossinger officiating.

  

Interment will follow in the McKees Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

  Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements
