The Dawson County Lady Tiger soccer team played two games last week.

Head Coach Rick Corwin’s group tied Chestatee, 0-0, on Wednesday, but lost an Area 15 game to Lakeview Academy, 1-0, on Friday.

The team is currently 7-5-2 on the season.

The Lady Tiger goalie picked up her sixth consecutive shutout on Wednesday against Chestatee (5-9-2).

Dawson had several chances to score against the Lady Eagles in Tigers Stadium, but just couldn’t find the back of the net.

“Once again, we can’t create goal-scoring chances, nor can we finish the ones we do create,” Corwin said.

The Lady Tigers had a great chance late in the game on a penalty kick that missed. It was the last scoring chance for Dawson in the game as the clock expired.

“We are just spinning our wheels offensively,” Corwin said. “We defend OK as a unit, can pass through midfield, but cannot produce high-quality shots or goals.”

It was much of the same on Friday offensively for the Lady Tigers. Corwin’s team’s offense was stagnant as Lakeview came away with the 1-goal win.

The only score for either team was by Liz Kenny of the Lady Lions (3-3; 4-6 in Area 15 play).

Dawson played its last regular season game, before the playoffs, against a very good Creekview team today, April 20. The Lady Grizzles come into the game with a 12-1 record. Scores were not available at press time.

The Lady Tigers will begin playoff action next week, the date hasn’t been determined yet, against either Athens Academy, 10-5, Hebron Christian, 9-3, or North Oconee, 7-5-1.

Currently all three teams are tied in Area 16 play.

“We will be at home and that is always good. It looks like we will have to defend and force the game into overtime and penalty kicks,” Corwin said of his team’s playoff strategy.
