POSTED: September 21, 2008 5:04 a.m.

Riverview Middle School Head Coach Jeff Compton’s Lady Eagle softball team lost games to Gilmer County Middle School, 5-0, as well as, Pickens County Middle School, 9-1, last week.

The team’s lone win came against Clear Creek Middle School in a commanding 14-6 decision.

In the game against Gilmer County Middle School, Riverview pulled of a rare occurrence. The team turned a triple play in the sixth inning.

“The girls hit the ball very well and played a great defensive game against Clear Creek,” Compton said.

“I am very proud of the way the girls have played all year. Our defense has been the key to our success this season,” he added.

Against Pickens County, the game was called after six innings due to the mercy rule in softball.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Jasper Middle School on Friday and Gilmer County Middle School next Tuesday, as the season begins to wind down.

Both games are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
