ASK THE EXPERTS

Church holds inauguration

POSTED: September 21, 2008 5:04 a.m.

In 2006 members of the Chestatee Seventh-Day Adventist Church purchased a parcel of land on the corner of Harry Sosebee Road and Black’s Mill Road in southern Dawson County, for their future church building.

After much planning and praying, the members were ready to move forward this year and begin construction of the building.

Steven Baluta, local contractor and Seventh-Day Adventist Church member, agreed to oversee the construction.

After many miracles, prayers and plain hard work by the people of the congregation who volunteered many hours of work themselves, the church building was completed July 31.

The church is an architectural, as well as a spiritual asset to the community, according to the church’s congregation.

An Inauguration Service was held Aug. 9 for 120 friends and members.

Pastor Paul Hoover, from the Georgia-Cumberland Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist headquarters in Calhoun, was the featured speaker and presented the message with the thought that this isn’t the end of the work, but rather the beginning.

Current Pastor John Williamson said, “I am sure that the Chestatee (Place of Lights) church will grow significantly in the future. The members have dedicated their lives and pocketbooks to God’s service. This kind of dedication, plus God’s blessing, means but one thing - success.”

“The Quest for Truth,” will be presented by Mark Finley, well-known author, speaker and television host, via satellite downlink, Oct. 24 through Nov. 29.

Services at the church consist of Bible study hour from 10-11 a.m. and worship service from 11:15 a.m. through 12:30 p.m.
