Goswick wins Chick-fil-A scholarship

POSTED: September 21, 2008 5:04 a.m.

Brittney Goswick, an employee of Chick-fil-A in Dawsonville, recently won the national $1,000 Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship.

Goswick plans to use the scholarship money to study athletic training education at North Georgia College & State University upon completion of high school.

Tony Kellar, owner of the free standing Chick-fil-A restaurant in Dawsonville, said Goswick was chosen because of her solid work ethic and willingness to always be a team player.

“Brittney joins a distinguished group of more than 23,500 Chick-fil-A team members who have received this very scholarship as they pursue their educational goals,” said Kellar.

Although Brittney is one of many to receive this scholarship, her achievement has not been overlooked by her employer and peers at the Chick-fil-A in Dawsonville.

“We are very proud of her accomplishment and appreciate the example she sets for the more than 50,000 Chick-fil-A team members who might also be inspired to reach higher goals,” said Kellar.

This scholarship finds its roots in Chick-fil-A Founder Truett Cathy, who was a fierce advocate for the educational goals of his employees.

He made this aid official in 1973 by creating the Leadership Scholarship program.

Since 1973, Chick-fil-A has awarded over $23 million in scholarship money to its employees.

More than $5 million has gone to Chick-fil-A employees from Georgia.

Chick-fil-A prides itself on being a business that “helps its restaurant team members reach their educational goals.”
