ASK THE EXPERTS

Business relocating headquarters here

POSTED: March 10, 2010 4:00 a.m.

A national leader in sanitizing technology will move its corporate headquarters to Dawson County.

AmeriVap, which sells and maintains commercial steam cleaning equipment for food, medical, transportation and hospitality industries, expects to begin relocating to the new location off Carlisle Road by April.

The corporate headquarters is currently in West Atlanta.

“The decision by AmeriVap is excellent news for our county,” said Charlie Auvermann, executive director of the Development Authority of Dawson  County.

“This is a smart, green company that operates in an expanding business sector.”

The move will involve about 20 employees, according to a release sent out by the development authority.

The development authority is currently in discussions with AmeriVap on Recovery Zone Bonds and Georgia capital investment tax credits, Auvermann said.

“There are a number of factors that came into play with AmeriVap’s consideration of Dawson County. They looked at reduced commute times for the majority of their employees, the quality of life for their employees and the ability to expand as their facility and the business grows in the future,” Auvermann said.

AmeriVap is the second business to announce a corporate move to Dawson County since the beginning of the year.

Monolith Hospitality, which furnishes and refurbishes hotels and motels across the United States, purchased an industrial park and plans to locate its corporate offices, distribution facilities, general design and operations offices at the Grizzle Road location.

Monolith’s move to Dawson County will be done in phases starting in late 2010 and could bring about 25 jobs to the county over the next two years.

“To attract quality businesses such as these takes time and a number of meetings. However, it also means having attractive locations, the right price, the amenities these employers expect and having a team approach to facilitating these critical moves to our county,” Auvermann said.
