Riverview Lady Eagles win first game of the season

POSTED: March 2, 2010 4:00 p.m.

The Riverview Lady Eagle soccer team won its first game of the season, 3-0, over cross-county rival Dawson County last Thursday, Feb. 25.

"Going into the game, we knew we had to take a million shots at goal in hopes some would go in," said Head Coach John Lundy. "Dawson is a really good team with a great goalie. We were very happy to score three goals."

Scoring goals for Riverview were Morgan Callas, Taylor Bennett and Mckay Shively.

The Lady Eagle defense was led by Riley Cox and goalie Daisy Sarmiento.

"We still have a lot of kinks to work out. But I am very pleased with the hustle of the girls and the overall play in our first game," said Lundy.

Members of this year's team include: Bennett, Shively, Mikayla Perez, Anna Hawkins,  Rachel Starling, Summer Sanders, Suzanne Eckert, Riley Cox, Sarmiento, Callas, Kamilla Baron, Sam Keeney, Abigail Jesperson, Rosalee Gaddis and Mikenzie Belben.

Riverview will play its next game at home this Friday against Jasper Middle School. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m.
