8th grade Lady Tigers end season

POSTED: February 9, 2010 4:50 p.m.
Head Coach Nichole Green’s eighth grade Lady Tiger basketball team made it to the Mountain League Championship semi-finals before being eliminated by Fannin County Middle School last Friday night.  The Lady Tigers began the tournament, held in Pickens County, with a close 34-29 win over Union County Middle School.   Emily Ayers led all Dawson scorers with 13 points. Ayers was followed in scoring by Madison Shope with seven points, on two, big 3-point shots, Alison Honea and Brooke Duffy added six points apiece, and Hannah Moye contributed two points. “We did very well,” said Green. “It was a tough game because Union has some unbelievable shooters. We played several different defenses in order to shut down their shooters, but the girls adjusted well and played as hard as I’ve ever seen them.”

With the loss, the Lady Tigers’ season came to an end.
