Ladies defeated by Fannin

The young Dawson County Lady Tigers basketball team continues to fight.

  

Despite losing their fourth straight game, to Fannin County last Tuesday, the team battled the entire game.

  

Dawson was down by only three points at halftime to the Lady Rebels, who are 16-3 overall this season. The Lady Tigers captured the lead in the fourth quarter only to see it dissipate away during the closing minutes of the game.

  

The final score was Fannin 56, Dawson 48.

  

With the loss, Dawson fell to 10-8 overall on the season. The team is currently in fourth place in Region 8A-AA with a 3-5 record.

  

The Lady Tigers have big games coming up at Union County this Friday at 7 p.m. and away again with a re-match against Fannin County next Tuesday at 6 p.m.

  

Jessi Phillips and Kenna Seitz shared offensive honors for Dawson. Both scored nine points. Seitz also pulled down nine rebounds.

  

Carly Gilreath and Morgan Bennett also had good games on offense with seven points apiece.

  

Closing out the scoring were Allie Costley and Judith Hall with four points each.

  

Hannah Porter and Natalie Parker each added three points, and Nikki Dean scored two points.

  

Brooke Thomas led Fannin with a game-high 14 points.

  

The deciding factor in the game was the ability of Fannin to get to the free throw line.

  

The Lady Rebels shot 41 free throw’s compared to only 14 for the Lady Tigers.
