RMS wrestling opens season

The Riverview Middle School wrestling team opened its season with a match at Towns County Nov. 3.

  

Picking up wins for the Eagles were: Gavin Brown, Josh Sage, Ryan Jones and Austin Anastasio all by pins. Winning in overtime was Brendan Capps.

  

Coach Benjy Edwards said: “We are young with 18 out of 26 wrestlers being their first year seeing a mat.”

  

Members of this year’s team include: Christian Seay, CJ Franklin, Chaz Slaton, Lane Cantrell, Jonathan Bryant, Craig Butler, Harrison Adams, Hollie Hornsby, Joey Prichard, Drew Bishop, Zack Reeves, Katelyn Baker, Josh Sage, Aaron Loftin, Arianna Delira, Mason Bearden, Austin Anastasio, Tyler Gastley, Franklin Burt, Gavin Brown, Riley Bryant, Matthew Reeves, Ryan Jones, Brendan Capps, Kyle Bertolone and Corey McNeal.

  

The team will be back in action next Tuesday, Nov. 17 with a match at Fannin County.

  

First match will begin at 4:30 p.m.
