Lloyd Flem Vaughters

Lloyd Flem Vaughters, 83, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 18, 2009.

  

Born April 27, 1926 to the late Rev. George and Minnie Vaughters, Flem was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

  

He was employed for many years by Temple Inland, after which he owned and operated Pulpwood and Coal Mountain Timber.

  

He served as county surveyor for many years and also operated a grading business.

  

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for 58 years.

  

He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Keith Evans and Christopher Lloyd Parker; son-in-law, Ronnie Tanner; brother, George Vaughters; and several other sisters and brothers.

  

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Louise Disharoon Vaughters of Dawsonville; children, Mildred and Cleve Evans, Linda and Mark Byrd, Clark Vaughters, Marty and David Parker, all of Dawsonville, Vivian Tanner of Dahlonega; sister, Ivy Bannister of Ball Ground; sisters-in-law, Oletta Disharoon, Mary Reed, both of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Cheryl and Rocky Hughes, Angela and Eddy DeCoursey, Frank and Sharon Tanner, Blake and Stephanie Tanner, Calvin Byrd, Anna Byrd, Joshua Vaughters, Zack Vaughters, Jordan Vaughters, Jarrad and Christina Parker, Derrick Parker; great-grandchildren, Brody Tanner, Ethan Parker, Rocksy Hughes; special friend, Annette Stewart; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Stephen Davis, Leonard W. Ridings, Harold Evans and Michael Cantrell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3165 Hwy. 136 West, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
