Tigers look to bounce back

Take on North Oconee

POSTED: October 13, 2009 4:44 p.m.

After a week off the Tigers will jump back into action this Friday with a showdown with undefeated North Oconee in Bogart.

The Titans are currently 6-0 on the season and more importantly the team is 5-0 in Region 8-AA play.

Head Coach Terry Tuley has the Titans on a roll. Their last three games have been shutouts against Riverside Military, 17-0, Banks County, 47-0 and Rabun County, 48-0.

Tiger Head Coach Jeff Lee has to turn up the defensive pressure on North Oconee’s Brandon Whitlock.

Whitlock rushed seven times for 132 yards and two touchdowns against Rabun County.

Not only do the Tigers have to find a way to stop Whitlock, the team should also be concerned about the Titans other offensive threats.

Lane Thompson and Kevin Lowring also turned in a big game against the Wildcats. Thompson carried the ball for 49 yards and two touchdowns and Lowring scored from 24-yards out.

The Titans defense is also very strong. The Titans limited Rabun to only 50 offensive yards and one first down, which came late in the fourth quarter.

Last year, Dawson lost to North Oconee 16-7 in a very close contest.

This year, the Tigers must play a spirited game and hope that the Titans are looking ahead to playing undefeated East Jackson the following week.

Look for Dawson to add a new wrinkle to their offense this week.

It will be homecoming for North Oconee on Friday night. Both teams had a bye week last Friday.

Lee and his coaching staff have had two weeks to prepare for the potent Titan attack.

This could be closer than people expect if Dawson can play ball control.
