Middle School Tigers end season

Fall to Clear Creek 6-0

POSTED: October 13, 2009 4:44 p.m.

The Dawson County Middle School football team completed its season with a heartbreaking 6-0 loss to Clear Creek last Wednesday afternoon in Ellijay.

The Tigers finished the year with a 3-4 record.

“We lost three of those games by a total of nine points,” said Head Coach Thomy Edwards. “Two points to Riverview, one point to Pickens and six points to Clear Creek. One thing about our games was that they were exciting to watch.”

Turnovers were a major problem in the game against Clear Creek.

Dawson lost three fumbles that determined the outcome of the contest. Clear Creek took one of those fumbles and turned it into a touchdown late in the second quarter. It was the only score for both teams.

Edwards said about his team’s performance on Wednesday: “Overall, all the boys played real hard. The defense did a great job. Many times they had their backs to the wall and somehow came up with a stop. Offensively, we struggled. It seemed every time we put together a good drive we would fumble the ball.

“I’m really proud of the way our players performed this season. They played hard every game. Between our players and the boys at Riverview, the future looks bright when they move up to high school,” he added.
