Lady Tigers slide into region play

Enters tourney on four-game win streak

Head Coach Jimmy Pruett and his Dawson County Lady Tiger softball team will be seeded No. 3 in the upcoming Region 8-AA softball tournament.

  

The Lady Tigers are currently on a four-game winning streak, with huge region wins over Union County, 2-0, Walnut Grove, 7-6, and Fannin County, 2-0.

  

The wins against Walnut Grove and Fannin County came down to the last at-bat.

  

Dawson scored six runs against Walnut Grove in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the victory.

  

Against Fannin County, the score was tied in the eighth inning until Dawson pushed across two runs to pick up the win.

  

The Region 8-AA tournament will be held at Jack Waldrip Field in Dawsonville.

  

As of press time, it looked like the Lady Tigers will take on Walnut Grove in the first round on Tuesday, scores were unavailable at press time. First pitch was scheduled for be at 4:30 p.m.

  

The semi-finals will be held on Friday, Oct. 9 with the finals being played on Saturday, Oct. 10.

  

“I feel we are playing really well right now and I like our chances,” said Pruett.

  

The top four teams will advance to the state sectionals next week.

 

Dawson finished the season with a 17-8-1 record.
