This summer presented a first time opportunity for many students at Robinson Elementary.

The artwork of 10 students was chosen to be displayed in the summer art show of the Youth Art Gallery at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which started July 1 and runs through Sept. 30.

“To my knowledge, this is the first time that student artwork has been on display at the airport,” said art teacher Amy Richardson. “It was a first for many students to see the artwork on display, and was a first time that many had ever been to the airport.”

Sponsored by the Georgia Art Education Association and the Airport Art Program, Hartsfield-Jackson has a gallery in the main terminal, Concourse T, and in the international concourse, Concourse E.

The artwork of Robinson’s students can be found in the main terminal, which features pieces ranging from watercolor paintings to mix media projects.

Richardson took a group of 28 people, including students and parents, who received a free tour of both youth art galleries, as well as other galleries throughout the airport.

“It was such a neat experience, for both parents and students,” Richardson said.

“The students were excited to see their artwork on display, which made them feel good about the work they had done. The trip was an excellent confidence booster for my students.”

The pieces on display are the work of the following students: Harley Marrett, first grade; Julie Bailey and Alexis Hogsed, second grade; Hunter Voyles and Elijah Stanfield, third grade; Marley Hamby and Cole Rogers, fourth grade; Emma Porter, Jacob Bryan and Keylan Steffins, fifth grade.

“I am happy that I was able to offer this experience, and am planning to submit artwork for next year and hopefully make another trip,” she added.
