Charles William Barger

Charles William Barger, 92, of Dawsonville, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

Born in Bartow County, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 25 years, having moved from Rockmart.

 

Mr. Barger retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 30 years of service.

 

After moving to Dawson County, he took a position with Murray Guards and retired in 2000.

 

He was a deacon of Kilough Church by the Lake, was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, where he served in the Pacific Theater and was awarded the Silver Star.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Lamar Barger.

 

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Clara Daniel Barger of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, LaDale and David Britt of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Angie and Tony Western, Beth and Charlie Hill, Allen Barger; four great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

 

Memorial services were Saturday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Burrell and Dan Charles officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to be made to the Gracie Hill Scholarship Fund, 7685 Hwy. 53 West, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

 

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
