The world of travel baseball presents many opportunities for its players.

Some are larger than others, and on the list are the USSSA World Series, NIT events, and many others.

At the top of the list is Cooperstown. The Dawsonville Kings, made up of 14 players from the Dawsonville area, have been selected to play in the Cooperstown Dreams Park and American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament, during the week of July 25. The tournament will be held in Cooperstown, N.Y.

In addition to competing against teams from around the country, members of the local team will be enshrined in the prestigious American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame.

Cooperstown Dream Park is located on 150 acres and features 22 professionally groomed and lighted fields. The Dawsonville Kings will spend seven days and six nights in the Baseball Village clubhouses.

The team has been very successful over the past several years. In 2008, the team was ranked as one of the top three teams nationally in the USSSA AA division.

At the USSSA World Series in Pensacola, Fla., the Kings finished in the top 10, allowing them to receive an end of year ranking as the second place team in USSSA AA in the state of Georgia and a top 20 national ranking.

Members of the team are: Max Bening, Owen Capriola, Brody Chester, Logan Crumley, J.T. Eggert, Matt Heard, Dylan Heller, Andrew Johnson, Cooper Kicklighter, Nick Neidet, Josh Nothdorft, Keaton Toal, Avery Whitehead and Levi Whitmire. The Dawsonville Kings are coached by Milton "Boy" Chester, Troy Kicklighter, Russ Stephens and Kelly Whitmire.

The team would also like to express its appreciation to all individuals and organizations that have made donations or given sponsorship to the program.

Without the community's support this incredible experience would not be possible.
