Summer for senior 4-H members is a time for leadership training and fun.

Besides providing help at 4-H events and camp, high school members traveled to Rock Eagle to attend the annual 4-H State Council. Those representing Dawson County were Krista Barnicoat, Autumn Callahan, Kristen Goswick and Taylor Thompson.

The theme of the weekend conference was, “A Little Bit of 4-H Goes A Long Way.”

Delegates attended workshops emphasizing their involvement with the national 4-H SET campaign. The national campaign will involve one million young people to strengthen their discovery and exploration in science, engineering and technology by 2013.

The campaign’s goal is to foster passion in science today to help shape education and career decisions tomorrow.

Delegates also spent time involved with team games, swimming and dancing.  Many brought used printer cartridges for recycling.  Money raised went toward another new cabin at Rock Eagle.

State 4-H Council is the annual meeting of 4-H’ers.

More than 850 delegates from across Georgia elected next year’s board of directors.

4-H is all about kids between the ages of 9 and 19.  If you are interested in learning more about Dawson County 4-H, contact the Dawson County Extension Service at (706) 265-2442.
