Swim team continues to improve

The Dawsonville Racers swim team traveled to Cornerstone School for a dual meet, Saturday, June 27.

  

The team had many of its swimmers place either first or second in the different age groups. Swim meets do not keep a team score, only individual ribbons depending on the position of each swimmer in their event. Ribbons were given for the first four places in this event.

  

Capturing first place ribbons for the Racers were:

  

The 6 and under division saw Sarah Beth O’Saben win in the freestyle and backstroke.

  

In the 8 and under age group, Morgan Johnson won in the butterfly, IM and free style relay. Grace McMahon won the backstroke and freestyle relay, and Cara Starr placed first in the breaststroke.

  

The 10 and under division:  Rebecca Ellis won the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle relay. Lindsay O’Saben got a blue ribbon for the freestyle, freestyle relay and IM.

  

In the 12 and under division: Rhys Adams won the freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and IM. Michael Putlak placed first in the breaststroke. Tyler Hilchie won the freestyle and breaststroke. Brooke Dare captured first place in the freestyle, backstroke and freestyle relay. Abigail Reed won the freestyle relay. Megan Spillane placed 1st in the breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle relay.

  

The 14 and under age group: Courtney Hilchie placed 1st in the free relay.

  

In the 15 and over age group:  Brittany Adams placed first in the freestyle, butterfly and freestyle relay. Hayley Adams won the freestyle. Lauren Dare won the backstroke and butterfly. Skye Perry placed first in the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle relay. Becca Bishop won the breaststroke and was a leg on the freestyle relay team.

  

Earning second place ribbons were: Grace Dorminy, Sarah Beth O’Saben, Grant McMahon, Logan Starr, Lauryn Antoun, Madison Coker, Madeleine Noe, Cara Starr, Peyton Allen, Faith Frankland, Tyler Hamby, Charlie Reed, Michael Putlak, Jeff Putlak, Abigail Reed and Megan Sloane.

  

The team will begin preparing for its District Swim Meet later this month

  

The site for the meet hasn’t been determined yet.
