Woman charged in wreck

Collision claimed life of boyfriend

POSTED: July 8, 2009 4:00 a.m.

A Forsyth County teenager has been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a February wreck that claimed the life of her boyfriend and injured four other people in southwestern Dawson County.

Kristen Danyale Robinson, who was arrested June 29, faces several other traffic violations stemming from the crash on Coltrane Road.

Those charges include failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions, driving on a suspended license and no tag or proof of insurance. Robinson has since been released on bond.

Tyler Hutchison, 18, was killed Feb. 23 when a Ford Probe driven by Robinson crossed over Coltrane in a curve and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Hutchison, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the Probe. Four others, including Robinson, were hurt in the collision.

Among the injured were a 22-year-old woman and her toddler son, who were in the other vehicle, and an 18-year-old boy who was traveling with Robinson.

In a strange twist, the 22-year-old is related to Hutchison and the other male teenager.

Attempts to reach the Hutchison and Robinson families were not successful.

The wreck was Dawson County’s first traffic-related death of 2009. Four more have since followed. There were 10 traffic-related deaths in 2008.
