Jewelry fundraiser set for Thursday

Proceeds to benefit KARE for Kids

POSTED: July 8, 2009 4:00 a.m.

Looking for quality jewelry that makes for a great gift, even if it’s for yourself?

Thursday’s KARE for Kids fundraiser will feature a jewelry party of Premier Designs, presented by Tracy Kirkley, a Premier Designs Jewelry Lady since 2002.

Premier Desgins is a direct sales jewelry company that markets quality, high fashion products to small groups through home shows.

From 6:30-8:30 p.m. on July 9, Dawson County residents are encouraged to stop by and support one of the community’s most influential nonprofit organizations.

One hundred percent of the profits made from sales at the party will  be donated to KARE for Kids.

“This line of jewelry is beautiful, and the party will include everything from stud earrings to dangle earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets,” said Robin Smith, secretary of the nonprofit organization.

“The things our organization does is such a great benefit to children in need. We would be grateful for support from the community,” Smith added.

KARE for Kids prides itself on: “Making the world a brighter place one child at a time,” according to the organizations Web site.

Calvin Byrd, president of KARE for Kids, is thankful for the community support the organization has recently received, especially in a struggling economy.

“It says a lot about a community when people still step up and support nonprofit programs when many people are going through difficult times,” he said.

“We appreciate all the support we have received thus far, and want everyone to know that the money supports a good cause, putting smiles on the faces of many children in this community,” Byrd added.

For anyone who is unable to attend Thursday’s event,  there are still ways to help contribute to KARE for Kids.

You can host your own jewelry show before Aug. 28, in which 20 percent of the profits will be donated to the organization from the show, or if you bring a guest list to Thursday’s show for a show that you want to host, 30 percent of the profits from your show will be donated to KARE for Kids.

The nonprofit organization’s main focus is providing the opportunity for every child in Dawson County to have a Christmas they deserve.

The organization also provides year-round assistance on a referral basis, assisting with a winter coat, tennis shoes, eye glasses, medical needs or specific items needed for school.

Funds from the event will provide financial assistance for the organizations various community projects and efforts throughout the year.

The party will be held at the home of Kathy Fleming, KARE board member, at 54 Dogwood Court in Dawsonville.
