ASK THE EXPERTS

Three Lady Tigers named to soccer team

POSTED: June 2, 2009 4:49 p.m.

Dawson County placed three players on the All-Area Girls’ Soccer Team announced last week by the Gainesville Times.

Named to the team were juniors Vanessa Stowers and Lindsey Vinson and senior Kelsey Gravitt.

Stowers made the second team after scoring nine goals and tallying nine assists for Head Coach Rick Corwin’s team.

Vinson, a goalie, was named honorable mention after having a stellar year.

Vinson recorded some wonderful saves for her Lady Tiger team during the 2009 campaign.

Vinson recorded seven shutouts this season.

The only Lady Tiger senior to make the team was Gravitt, who played great defense.

Gravitt was part of a backline that allowed only 22 goals last season for the 9-6-1 Lady Tigers.

Corwin should have a strong nucleus coming back next season, despite losing four seniors.

Graduating were Gravitt, Brittany Walker, Rachel Hewlett and Melissa Edwards.
