Ladies place at state

Christine Parker and Madalyn Walters both placed in the Girls State Track Meet held last Thursday through Saturday at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.

  

Parker raced on Thursday evening in the 3200 meter race. The senior Lady Tiger ran a very competitive race coming in seventh place. She crossed the finish line with a time of 12:59.77. Winning the event was Lauren Kester from Greater Atlanta Christian School with a time of 11:41.09.

  

With the seventh place finish, Parker picked up two points for her team.

GACS would also win the AA State team title with 49 total points. The Lady Spartans finished just ahead of Jordan and Decatur, who tied for second place with 46 points.

  

Freshman Madalyn Walters ran a great race on Friday evening and finished in fifth place for Head Coach Arron Haynes. Walters also picked up four valuable team points. She came in with a time of 5:29.10.

  

Taking the state championship was her cross country foe from North Oconee, Rebecca Greenwall. Greenwall finished with a time of 5:15.75.

  

The Lady Tigers finished in a tie for 18th place with Dodge County with six team points.
