The Dawson County High School Football team recently sold raffle tickets for a seven day-six night vacation at the Liki Tiki Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Out of 2,245 tickets sold, the lucky winner was Joyce Nations of Dawsonville.

The money raised will provide new safety equipment for the football team and help pay for three scheduled football camps this summer.

“I would like to thank Jay Walker with Kroger and Nick Nicodemus at Food Lion for letting us hold a ‘blitz day’ to help sell tickets and Lydia Seitz for the vacation accommodations. A special thank you to the entire community of Dawson County for their support in helping make this fundraiser a huge success.  Go Tigers,” said Lori Lewis, vice president of fundraising for the Tigers Touchdown Club.

Lewis also wanted to remind all Tiger football fans and the community to be on the look out for the team’s upcoming Tiger Football Spring Fest 2009 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Saturday, May 16 at Tiger Stadium.

The day will have many exciting events including the annual maroon/gold  scrimmage game. Kick-off for the scrimmage game will be 1 p.m
