Eighteen teams competed in the event, which included a field of ranked teams like Blessed Trinity, Brookwood, Chattoochee, Gainesville, Marist, North Forsyth, St. Pius X and Woodward Academy.

Whitmire finished with a 66 for the 18-hole event. Her score was good for a ninth place overall finish.

Whitmire’s 66 tied rival Camryn Cole from Gainesville and Brooke Atkinson from Wesleyan. Winning the event was Taylor Blair from Wesleyan with a 55.

Wesleyan won the team event with a total of 113. Finishing second was Chattoochee with a team score of 127.

Erin Pruitt, 82, and Rachel Dotson, 84, also competed in the event for Head Coach Shari Chastain’s team.

On Tuesday, March 31, Whitmire fired a 44 to lead all golfers in a 95-104 win over Forsyth Central at Old Atlanta Golf Course in Cumming.

Stowers came in with a 51 to complete the scoring for the Lady Tigers.

Dawson fell to 7-3 overall for the season with a 94-104 loss to Region 8-AA foe Rabun County on Wednesday, April 1.

Once again, Charley Whitmire led the Lady Tigers with a 9-hole score of 49; Rabun’s Megan Arthur was low medalist for the match with a 42 at Kingswood Golf Course in Clayton.

The team is currently off until April 14, when they travel to Chicopee Woods Golf Course to play Flowery Branch.

The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
