Walters, Parker set new track records

Madalyn Walters and Christine Parker each set new track records for the Lady Tigers during the GAC Invitational track meet, March 21.

  

Walters recorded a time of 5:44 in the 1600-meters, while Parker ran a time of 12:41 in the 3200-meters.

  

On March 24 both track teams played host to Fannin County and Gilmer County in a tri-meet.

  

The girls’ team was narrowly defeated by the Lady Bobcats, 77-78, but was able to defeat Fannin 77-19.

  

Finishing in first place for the Lady Tigers were: Morgan Bennett (high jump-4’6”), Ally Orr (triple jump-30’9.5”), Christine Parker (3200-meter-12:53), Judith Hall (100-meter-14.07 and 200-meter-29.76) and Madalyn Walters (1600-meter-5:51).

 

Each of these winners earned five points for their team.

  

Ashley Jacob (shotput and discus), Bennett (400-meters), Erin Gordon (100-meter)  and Walters (800-meter) came in second in their events.

  

On the boys’ side, Dawson lost to Gilmer 98-59, but won easily over Fannin 59-13.

  

Taking first place were: TJ Byrd (discus-97’8”), Eian Perry (long jump-18’11”), Tommy Lin (100-meter-12.58) and John Markley (200-meter-25.33).

  

Coming in second place in their events were: Isaac Martin (110 high hurdles), Perry (100-meter), Markley (400-meter) and Byrd (pole vault).
