Man faces rape, kidnapping charges

POSTED: July 16, 2014 4:00 a.m.

A 43-year-old Dawsonville man faces kidnapping, rape and other charges after he reportedly assaulted a woman over four days at a home in western Dawson County.

According to Dawson County Sheriff's officials, Rogelio Jimenez has also been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated sexual battery, battery, false imprisonment and sodomy.

Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten said the charges were filed following Jimenez's arrest Saturday. He is being held without bond at the Dawson County Detention Center.

"On July 8, the adult female victim went to the suspect's house for what she believed to be a child's birthday party," Wooten said. "After that incident, Mr. Jimenez refused to let her leave, going as far as to threaten to kill all of her friends and family with a shotgun if she left."

According to Wooten, the victim was then held against her will and sexually assaulted each day until she escaped July 11.

"She fled on Friday to her home in [a neighboring county] where they, as I understand, had already started proceedings for a missing person case," he said. "Her friends brought her to Dawson County to report the incident."

The assault reportedly took place "on the west side of the county, close to the Pickens County line," according to Wooten.

A shotgun and two other weapons were recovered Saturday morning at the home, where investigators arrested Jimenez, Wooten said.

"We believe he is a convicted felon and are working with other counties to confirm this," he said. "If he is, it will be another charge added - possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, which is another felony."
