Tiger football player Jacob Perry signed a letter of intent to play at Campbellsville University in Kentucky last week.

Campbellsville is an NAIA school that competes in the Mid-South Conference.

Last year the team went 3-8 under first year head coach Perry Thomas.

Dawson County Head Coach Jeff Lee has now seen 17 of his players go on to pursue football after high school.

Perry played all four seasons as cornerback for Lee. He was a starter his junior and senior years for the Tigers.

“I liked the college for academic and athletic reasons,” Perry said. “I am looking forward to playing for them.”

Campbellsville is ranked No. 22 in the South for baccalaureate colleges.

Perry plans to study Criminal Justice.

Jeff Perry, Jacob’s father, said: “We are very proud of him and overjoyed with this great opportunity. This shows his commitment, as he has worked very hard on and off the field. He has come a long way since his freshman year and we are excited for him.”

“We are very excited for him and thankful for all the support that he has received from the school, both academically and athletically. His teachers and coaches have done a great job preparing him for college,” said his mother Lisa Perry.

“Jacob has done a wonderful job preparing himself for this chance. He has worked hard in the weight room and has done an excellent job in the secondary for us. Jacob will do well at Campbellsville. We wish him the best,” said Lee.
