POSTED: May 20, 2014 10:50 p.m.

The Dawson County High School tennis team held its end of year banquet last week. Coaches Ryan Coker and Jamey Bearden presented awards.

The girls' team had a very good season and made the state playoffs.

Bearden's girls' team was defeated by Cartersville in the first round. The Lady Tigers finished fourth in the region.

Coker's boys' team improved tremendously as the season unfolded.

"I was really impressed with how much we got better as the season went along," Coker said.

Winning awards for the girls were: Most Improved - Gracey Buice; Coaches Award - Lauren Morgan and MVP - Brandi Jo Hafermalz.

For the boys, awards went to: Most Improved - Jeff Drew; Coaches Award - Lane Venters and MVP - Dillard Blanton.

Miranda Abe and Max Muldoon were both awarded the academic award for spring sports.
