Oratorical winner is bound for state

One Dawson County middle school student is racing to the top of public speaking.

Noah Stapp, an eighth-grader at Dawson County Middle School and the entrant sponsored by the Optimist Club of Jasper, will compete for $2,500 during the Georgia District Oratorical contest.

The topic for this year's contest is "How My Passions Impact the World."

This win comes after Stapp's first-place victory at the zone oratorical contest March 20 and the area contest April 12, both in Canton.

Stapp now will be competing in Columbus on Sunday against other area winners from across the state.
