Dawson County standout cross country runner Dylan Forester has signed a letter of intent to continue his running career at Georgia Regents University, formerly August State University.

Forester finished an outstanding high school career for the Tigers this past season. The senior finished in sixth place at the Class AAA state cross country meet in Carrollton in November. He also finished as region 7-AAA runner-up, just a half second out of first place.

Georgia Regents University is coached by Adam Ward, who is in his 10th year at the school. Ward and the Jaguars competed in the NCAA Division II Championships in November in Spokane, Wash. The team finished in 31st place.

Dawson County High School Tigers' Head Coach Charles Beusse said: "Dylan seems to be very excited about beginning his career at GRU and he seems to think it will be a good fit for him both as a runner and as a student."

Of all the things I could say about Dylan and how he has contributed to the cross country program at DCHS is simply his hard work ethic. He is one of the most dedicated high school level runners I've ever seen and he never cuts corners in his training. He consistently sets goals for himself and works incredibly hard to achieve them," he added.

Forester added to his stellar career by qualifying for the state sectionals for track and field in the 3,200-meter last week. Forester recorded a time of 10:05, just three seconds off the school record. The senior will run this week at East Jackson High School in Jefferson for a chance to run at the state track event Saturday.
