James W. Ray Sr.

James W. Ray Sr., 73, of Dawsonville, died April 2, 2014.

Born Jan. 11, 1941 in Ashland, Ohio, he had lived in Dawson County for the past two years having moved from Apache Junction, Ariz.

Mr. Ray retired from Lucent Technologies after more than 30 years of service.

His father, Charles Ray; and a grandson, Justin Ray, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Jim and Gina Ray of Cumming, Charlene Ray of Dawsonville, Jeff Ray and Susie Barron of Canton; granddaughters, Brittney Ray, Destiny Ray; and his mother, Kathryn Ray of Arizona; various other relatives also survive.

At his request, Mr. Ray was cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
