The Dawson County High School baseball team played two close games last week before falling to North Hall by a 9-0 score.

Head coach Thad Burgess' team lost 1-0 to White County on March 18, before defeating a talented North Hall team, 2-1, on March 19.

The Tigers are currently 6-5 overall and 1-5 in Region 7-AAA play.

The team's game against White County was a pitching classic. With more than 20 major league scouts in attendance, Logan Burt threw a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts.

His counterpart, Spencer Adams from White County, struck out 14 hitters and allowed only one hit to pick up the win. Burt got the only hit of the game. Adams has committed to playing baseball at the University of Georgia.

The Warriors scored their only run on three walks and a passed ball in the third inning.

Dawson County rebounded on March 19 with a 2-1 win over North Hall in Dawsonville.

JT Eggert was stellar on the mound. He allowed only three hits and one run for the complete game victory. Eggert also picked up nine strikeouts in the contest.

The Tigers scored their two runs on a Levi Whitmire double in the first inning, driving in Burt. The second run came on a Colton Chester single, driving in Whitmire.

North Hall scored its lone run on a sixth-inning home run by Andrew Smith.

Playing the second game of the series in Gainesville on Friday was too much for the Dawson County pitching staff.

North Hall's Andrew Smith was perfect at the plate going 4-4 with two RBIs in a 9-0 Trojan win.

"We played two really good games this week with the loss to White and the win over North Hall. We have struggled on the third game each week with pitching. Need to find someone to step in that role if we have a chance to make the playoffs. Playing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, is difficult for all region teams, and we must compete every game to have a chance. We need to put several wins together to get back in the playoff picture," Burgess said.

The Tigers will host two home games this week. Today, the team will play Banks County at 5:55 p.m. and on Friday, the team will host Fannin County beginning at 7 p.m.

Both are Region 7-AAA contests.
