When Will Wade joined the Rotary Club of Dawson County nine years ago, he was drawn to the organization's "Service Above Self" motto.

He is now the newest Assistant Governor in Rotary District 6910, and, as a liaison for the district, represents five clubs in Dawson, Lumpkin and White counties.

"I am truly honored to serve Rotary and Dawson County as ADG. I'm looking forward to helping take some of the great ideas and programs our club does and share with other area clubs and vice versa," he said. "I also want to always exude the ideal of Service Above Self and this is a fantastic way for me to continue on the Rotary journey."

Wade joined the local club in 2005. Since that time, he has served in numerous capacities including president, vice president, secretary and president elect, among others.

"Rotary is a great way to give to local, regional, national and international causes where collective service values align to effectuate positive change," he said.

He is proud to be a Rotarian and proud of the club's work in the community.

"Women and men of all backgrounds and vocations join as equals to help causes that make truly positive impacts on Dawson County," he said.

President Vernon Smith said he and the club are proud to have Wade as a member.

"It's a great testimony to this club and the members in it that you have someone of the caliber of Will Wade that's been involved in the community, been involved on the school board and to be involved in Rotary to be selected by the district governor," he said.

The club was recently recognized as the fastest growing club in the state, a notion both believe played a role in Wade's selection as assistant district governor.

"Being the fastest growing club in the state of's also a testimony to the club and the caliber of our members," Smith said.

"Each one of those members was invited by another Rotarian, so each of the Rotarians involved in the club has had an active role in inviting other members, and that's how you grow by participation of the entire club, who are excited about the work that we're doing and proud of the impact in our community and internationally."
