Teen faces sex charges

A 17-year-old Dawson County High School student remained in jail on Tuesday, a week after his arrest on kidnapping, rape and aggravated child molestation charges.

The counts against Corey Roger Voyles of Dawsonville stem from a report made by a teenage family member who was staying at his home in late January.

According to arrests warrants taken out by Dawson County Sheriff's Investigator Christopher Carpenter, Voyles faces nearly a dozen charges in connection with a sexual assault that reportedly took place between Jan. 24 and 26.

"The victim disclosed what had happened and it was reported to us by her family," said Dawson County Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten. "The contact was nonconsensual."

Voyles also faces charges of false imprisonment, aggravated sodomy, sodomy, sexual battery, enticing a child for indecent purposes and two counts of aggravated sexual battery.

A bond hearing is expected to occur later this week, investigators said.

Voyles is a junior at the high school, where he played on the varsity football team as recently as the 2013 season.
