Dawsonville man arrested in statewide child porn investigation

POSTED: March 10, 2009 2:48 p.m.

A Dawsonville man was arrested earlier today after state and local authorities executed a search warrant at his home and recovered child pornography.

Jody Lee Chadwick, 35, of Mulkey Road, is in Dawson County Sheriff’s custody facing charges in connection with a statewide three-month investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to Dawson County Sheriff’s Maj. John Cagle.

Over 40 search warrants were executed today across the state in connection with the distribution of child porn over the Internet.

Cagle said many of those arrested were the result of reports from Internet service providers reporting child pornography to the task force.

Georgia Bureau of Investigations Special Agent Mitchell Posey said the search in Dawson County uncovered enough evidence to take Chadwick into custody on charges related to child pornography.

“We found child pornography on his computer,” Posey said.

According to Cagle, Chadwick is currently unemployed and does not own the house where the search warrant was issued.

Charges are currently not available.

Known as "Operation Shattered Innocence", this state-wide endeavor includes 17 local agencies, three federal agencies (FBI, ICE and the Secret Service), the three U. S. Attorneys' Offices in Georgia (northern, middle and southern districts) and the Georgia Attorney General's Office, according to GBI spokesman John Bankhead.
