The Dawson County Lady Tigers basketball team is back in the show.

The reigning Class AAA runner-ups from last season used a 29-15 second-half run to defeat Fannin County 57-40 Saturday to make the State tournament for the second consecutive year.

"It is great to be able to say (back-to-back) after getting this win today and make it to the State tournament," said Coach Steve Sweat. "This group of girls have fought really hard this year to get back to state."

Dawson County used a 6-0 run to open the game. Behind the play of Sheyenne Seabolt, who scored 10 points in the quarter, the Lady Tigers took a 19-16 lead after eight minutes of play.

Seabolt finished the game with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

Coach Suzanne Pass's Lady Rebel team tied the game at 21-21 with 5:53 remaining in the second quarter on a free throw.

But the Lady Tigers answered with a 5-0 run to take a 26-21 advantage.

Dawson County (18-8) took a 28-25 lead into halftime.

After some halftime adjustments by Sweat, the Lady Tigers began the third quarter on fire.

Dawson County scored the first 10 points of the quarter to take a 38-25 lead. The Lady Tigers never looked back to take the 17-point win.

Also having a great night on offense were Ashley Parker with 13 points and Karlie Bearden with 11 points.

Adding points to the Lady Tiger offense were Haley Burgess with 8, Jordan Moore had 6 and Peyton Porter scored 1 point.

Up next for Dawson County was the Buford Wolves on Monday night in the semifinals.

The Lady Wolves went into the contest with a 24-2 record.

Buford advances to the Region 7-AAA finals with the win over the Lady Tigers. State tournament play will begin on Friday night with Region 7-AAA matching up with Region 5-AAA at a site to be determined.

Dawson County will play, depending on the semifinals outcome, either Sonoraville (16-9), Ringgold (6-19), Cartersville (21-3) or North Murry (11-15).
