With stately white columns and an elegant brick exterior, the newly opened branch of First Citizens Bank of Georgia stands to be a design benchmark for new businesses locating to Dawson County.
"The building makes Ga. 400," said Mike Berg, chairman of the bank's board of directors. "I hope others that build in the area will model their buildings after this one."
Located at the intersection of Carlisle Road and Ga. 400, the 13,000 plus square feet building is the first permanent branch for First Citizens Bank of Georgia, a locally owned bank headquartered in Dawson County.
Built with the future in mind, Executive Vice President Mike Underwood said the first branch is designed for growth and sets a pace for other businesses locating to the county.
The bank's board of directors, a group comprised of local residents and business leaders from Dawson, Lumpkin and Forsyth counties, paid careful attention to the bank's design and architecture to insure that one of the first buildings residents and visitors see as they enter the county is one that makes a statement.
"It's a beautiful building that says a lot about Dawson County," Underwood said. "We hope it's enhanced the beauty of the 400 corridor. It's something we're proud of, and we hope the citizens and customers would be proud of, too."
With over $90 million in total assets and a staff of professionals dedicated to community banking, First Citizens Bank of Georgia is a full service community bank offering services ranging from residential mortgages to complex commercial loans, as well as personal checking and savings accounts.
"Banks all sell the same thing. The only difference between banks is the way they treat their customers. As our tagline says, 'You'll notice the difference,'" Underwood said.
A second branch on Bethelview Road in Forsyth County is expected to break ground within the next 30 days, according to Underwood.
