The Dawson County Lady Tigers bounced back last week with two big Region 7-AAA wins.

The team triumphed over White County, 50-47, and won 52-48 in overtime against East Hall.

The Lady Tigers are now 15-6 overall and more importantly 6-4 in region play.

It was a memorable night with the Lady Tigers hosting a much improved and Class AAA ranked White County (13-6; 5-5) Jan. 21. Not only did Dawson County pick up the big win but celebrated the achievements of two star junior basketball players.

Early in the game Sheyenne Seabolt nailed a 3-pointer to reach 1,001 points in her three-year career as a varsity player.

"What an accomplishment in less than three full seasons," Sweat said. "I am very proud for Sheyenne and glad she is on our team."

Additionally, Seabolt reached 500 career rebounds with a 14-rebound performance against White County.

Teammate Ashley Parker also reached a milestone by pulling down 13 rebounds to reach 500 career rebounds for her three-year career.

Coach Steve Sweat said he was proud of his two junior players.

"Both of these girls have worked really hard to get to this level," he said. "It will be interesting to see how many they end up with at the end of their senior year. It is my privilege to have them on each side of the goal when the ball is shot."

Seabolt and Parker led the Lady Tigers to erase a 7-point fourth quarter deficit, with only two minutes remaining in the game, to win the game. Both players had double digits scoring with 17 and 12 points respectively.

Also scoring in double digits was Karlie Bearden with 11 points. She also pulled down eight rebounds.

Dawson County held a slim 40-37 lead going into the final quarter just to see White County go on a run and take the lead. The Lady Tigers hit 5 of 5 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Adding to the scoring for Dawson County were Peytan Porter with four points, Haley Burgess with three points, and Madison Shope also with three points.

Friday night, the Lady Tigers overcame a 17-point deficit Friday night to pull out a 52-48 win in overtime at East Hall.

The Lady Vikings jumped out to a 13-5 first quarter lead. East Hall continued to use discipline on offense and extended their lead to 29-16 at halftime.

The Dawson County offense finally came alive in the third quarter with the Lady Tigers outscoring East Hall 12-10 to shorten the Lady Viking lead to 39-28.

Sweat's team turned up the pressure in the fourth quarter, causing several bad shots and turnovers by East Hall.

Dawson County cut the lead to 45-42 by taking the East Hall turnovers and converting them to point. Sheyenne Seabolt finally tied the game when she hit a 3-point shot to tie the score at 45-45.

The Lady Tigers had a chance to win in regulation but missed a shot at the buzzer, sending the game into overtime.

Dawson County took the early lead in OT 47-45 scoring the first basket. The Lady Tigers outscored East Hall 7-3 in extra time to take the big Region 7-AAA win.

"The girls never gave up," Sweat said. "They just kept pecking away at the lead and we got it finally in overtime.

"It was a great team effort on both ends of the floor. We took care of the ball much better and had the lowest number of turnovers in a game this season."

Ashley Parker had a double-double for the game with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Rounding out the scoring were Seabolt with 15 points, Jordan Moore added eight, Burgess with six points and Bearden with five points.
