POSTED: January 21, 2014 4:14 p.m.

The Riverview Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team finished the season with a perfect 10-0 record after defeating Dawson County Middle School, 50-33, and Fannin, 36-34, last week.

Head Coach Mark Thomason's team trailed 12-10 after one quarter of play against Dawson County Middle. The Eagles then picked up their defense and held the Tigers to single digits each of the next three quarter to take the victory.

Cullen Reed led Riverview with 17 points and nine rebounds. Teammate Ryan Gallenkamp had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

On Friday, the team came from behind, trailing 18-13 at halftime, to pull out a two-point win at Fannin County.

The Eagles outscored the Rebels 11-7 in the third quarter, but trailed 25-24 after three quarters of play.

Thomason's team captured the lead in the final quarter and outscored Fannin 12-9 to take the win.

Connor Bearden led Riverview in scoring with 11 points followed by Ryan Gallenkamp with 10 points.

"Ryan (Gallenkamp) played great defense for us," Thomason said.

Gallenkamp had four blocks and led the team in rebounds.

Up next for the No. 1-seed Eagles will be a semi-final game in the Mountain League Tournament at 7 p.m. Friday at Fannin County Middle School in Blue Ridge.
