Shirley Joan Forbes

Shirley Joan Forbes, 77, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 12, 2014.

Born Nov. 3, 1936 in Oakland, Neb., to the late George and Alberta Rough, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 19 years, having moved from Lockport, Ill.

Mrs. Forbes retired from Rockwell International in Lemont, Ill., after more than 20 years of service.

Her husband of 50 years, William Denton "Bill" Forbes Sr.; and a brother, George Edward Rough, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Melody Yeary, Valerie Spanos, Jason Forbes, all of Joliet, Ill., William D. Jr. and Denise Forbes of Dawsonville, Julie Forbes of Cumming, Marc Forbes, Jessica and Steven Phillips, all of Kilgore, Texas, Jennifer and Don Bilthuis of Wilmington, Ill; stepdaughter, Shari Schoeppey of Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Ingram Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Harben officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
