ASK THE EXPERTS

Accident leaves one dead, two injured

POSTED: January 22, 2014 4:00 a.m.

A single-vehicle wreck Saturday night in Lumpkin County has left one teenager dead and two others injured, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Lumpkin County High School sophomore Annah Robinson, 16, was killed when the northbound 2014 Ford Mustang in which she was riding left Rail Hill Road and struck a tree.

Robinson, the daughter of Riverview Middle School band and chorus teacher Joel Robinson, was in the front passenger seat at the time.

"We are heartbroken for Joel and his family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved and impacted," said Dawson County School Superintendent Keith Porter. "One thing that I know is that Joel's work family will help him in any way possible through this difficult time."

Fellow passenger and younger sister Emilee Robinson, 13, was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment of injuries, according to the state patrol.

The driver, 18-year-old Forrest Blake of Lumpkin County, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

According to a social media site set up in the elder Robinson's honor, Lumpkin County High School held a memorial service for the family Tuesday morning.

Riverview Middle School has plans to set up grief counseling for students who may have known the girls.

"Some of our kids knew the Robinson girls from the community and we are trying to be highly sensitive to this situation," said Principal Bill Zadernak. "Joel is part of our family and this is just beyond comprehension. We are all heartbroken."

As of Tuesday, no charges had been filed in connection with the wreck. The state patrol's investigation is ongoing.
